BARIC DEBITS

Debits to individual accounts, as reported to the Federal Reserve Board by
banks in leading cities for the weel: ended January 23 , aggregated $6,958,000,000,
or l4 per cent below the total reported for the preceding week and 13 per cent
above the total for the corresponding week of last year.
Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to $6 ,483,000,000, compared with $7,554,000,000
the preceding week and $5,748,000,000 the week ended January 24 of last year.
