Debits to individual acco\aits as reported to the .Federal Reserve Board by banks
in leading cities aggregated $11,£.87,000,000 , or 2.S per cent below the total of
$12, 234,000, 00a reported for the preceding week. New York City shows an increase of
$133,000,COO and Srai Francisco of $15,000,000. Boston reports a reduction of
$45,000,000, St. Louis - of $46,000,000, Chica/ro - of $44,000,000, and. Pittsburgh 'i $37, 000, 000.
As conpared. with the week ending January 16, 1924, all the leading cities show
higher figures for the week under review. New York City shows an increase of
$1,027,000,000, Chicago - $22,000,000, Boston - $76,000,000 and Philadelphia $4o,:oo,oeo.
Aggregate debits for l4l centers for which figures have been published weekly
since January, 1919, aggregated $11,219,491,000 as compared with $11, 522,179,000 for
the preceding week and $9*817,007,000 for the week ending January l6 , 1924*
Debits to individual accounts were reported to the Federal Reserve Board for
banks in 255 centers, of WHich-249 are included in the summary by Federal reserve
districts.
