"banks in leading cities for the week ending January 8 , aggregated
$18,403,000,000 or 18 per cent above the total reported for the preceding week,
;/hich included hut five business days, and 16 per cent below the total reported
for the corresponding week of last year.
Aggregate debits for l4l centers for which figures have "been published
weekly since January 1919 amounted to $17,285,000,000, as compared with
$14, 7% , 000,000 for the preceding week and $ 20, 860,000,000 for the week ending
January 9 , of last year.
