STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS For immediate release BANK DEBITS Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System February 20, 1937. Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the week ended February 17, which included only five business days in many of the re porting centers, aggregated $8,835,000,000, or 3 percent above the total reported for the preceding week and 3 percent above the total for the corresponding week of last year. Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main tained since January 1919 amounted to $8,155*090,000, compared, with $7,968,000,000 the preceding week and $7,976,000,000 the week ended February 19 of last year.
