BANK DEBITS

Board of Governors
of the Federal Reserve System
February 17, 19-41

Debits to deposit accounts (except interbank accounts), as reported by
banks in leading cities for the week ended February 12, aggregated $6,923,000,000.
Total debits during the 13 weeks ended February 12 amounted to $124,5-44,000,000,
or 9 percent above the total reported for the corresponding period a year ago.
At banks in New York City there was an increase of 6 percent compared with the
corresponding period a year ago, and at the other reporting centers there was an
increase of 12 percent.
