BANK DEBITS--DEBITS TO DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS EXCEPT INTERBANK ACCOUNTS

Bank debits as reported by banks in 3k2 leading centers for the month of
January aggregated (^lk9,00k million. During the past three months total debits
amounted to $kk9,80k million or 8 per cent above the total reported for the corresponding period a year ago, At banks in New York City there was an increase of
11 per cent compared with the corresponding three-months period a year ago, and
at the other centers there was an increase of 7 per cent*
