BANK DEBITS

Board of Governors
of the Federal Reserve System
December 9 * 1940

Debits to deposit accounts (except interbank accounts), as reported by
banks in leading cities for the week ended December 4, aggregated $9,£>31,000,000.
Total debits during the 13 weeks ended December 4 amounted to $114,904*000,000,
or 5 percent above the total reported for the corresponding period a year ago*
At banks in New York City there was an increase of & percent compared with the
corresponding period a year ago, and at the other reporting centers there was an
increase of 8 percent.
