BANK DEBITS

Board of Governors
of the Federal Reserve System
December 11 , 1937

Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the
week ended December 8, aggregated $8,312,000,000, or 6 percent above the total re­
ported for the preceding week, which included only five business days and 11 percent
below the total for the corresponding week of last year.
Aggregate debits for the 14-1 cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to $7,654,000,000, compared with $7,lol,000,000
the preceding week and $8,671,000,000 the week ended December 9 of last year*
