Federal Reserve Board
Aug. 28,1920-

Below is given the Federal Reserve Board's weekly statement of debits to
individual account reported through the Federal Reserve Banks by over 1^0 of
the country’ s more important clearing houses. Transactions cover the weekly
periods ending Wednesday, Aug. 25 and Aug. IS of the present year and Aug. 27,
I 919• The statement closes with a recapitulation giving comparative figures
by Reserve Districts for cities reporting complete data for the three weeks
under review.
Aggregate debits to individual accornt show a further reduction of 562
millions, bringing the total down to 7 >9S6 millions, the smallest amount shown
for any week of this year with the exception of the five-day week of February
25* All the important centers, except Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and New Orleans,
report a smaller volume of transactions than the week before. Aggregate debits
for the corresponding week of 1919 were approximately the same as those^for the
week tender review, debits for the New York City clearing house banks being about
532 millions below last year's total for the corresponding week, while all the
other important centers, except Kansas City, report larger figures this year
than a year ago.
