BANK DEBITS
Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the
week ended August 18, aggregated $8,246,000,000, or 10 percent above the total re­
ported for the preceding week and 6 percent above the total for the corresponding
week of last year.
Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to $7*553,000,000, compared with $6,858,000,000
the preceding week and $7,186,000,000 the week ended August 19 of last year.
