BANK DEBITS

Debits to individual accounts, as reported to the Federal Reserve Board by
banks in leading cities for the week ending July 29. aggregated $8,14-9,000,000,
or 11 per cent below the total reported for the preceding week and 30 per cent
below the total for the corresponding week of last year.
Aggregate debits for the l4l centers for which figures have been published
weekly since January 1919 amounted to $7,591>000,000, as compared with
$8,430,000,000 for the preceding v;eek and $11,024,000,000 for the week ending
July 30 of last year.
