BA1IK DEBITS— DEBITS TO DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS , EXCEPT INTERBANK ACCOUNTS
Bank debits as reported by banks in leading ceiiters for the week ended
August 6 , 1941, aggregated $10,507,000,000. Total debits during the 13 weeks ended
August 6 , 1941 amounted to $133,280,000,000, or 24 per cent above the total reported
for the corresponding period a year ago. At banks in New York City there was an
increase of 20 per cent compared with the corresponding period a year ago, and at
the other reporting centers there was an increase of 27 per cent.
