BANK DEBITS— DEBITS TO DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS EXCEPT INTERBANK ACCOUNTS
Bank debits as reported b y banks in 274 leading centers for the month of
March aggregated 62,253 million dollars. During the past three months total debits
for the same centers amounted to 168,908 million dollars or 21 per cent above the
total reported for the corresponding period a year ago. At banks in N e w York City
there was an increase of 27 per cent compared with the corresponding three-months
period a year ago, and at the 273 other centers there was an increase of 18 per cent.
