Volume of "business, as measured by debits to individual account, shows
a reduction frcm $7, 5 % , 000,000 for the week ending March 23 to &6, 464, 000,000
for the week ending March 30* These debits are reported to the Federal Reserve

figures for the most recent week are shown for all the larger centers, except
Boston, the decrease for New York City alone being Jpy-ft 000,000, or about "JO per
cent of the total decrease. The smaller volume/ior the week under review may
be due in part to the observance of Good Friday as a Holiday in sane of the
centers.
As compared with the corresponding week in 1920, debits for the week
under review were analler by $3 ,1 4 9 ,0 0 0 , 000, or about 33 per cent, substantial
reductions being shown for all the leading centers, except Los Angeles * For
New York City alone the figures for the week under review were smaller than those
for the corresponding week in 192 O by $1,927,000,000, or about 38 per cent.
