Form FR-285 STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS For immediate release BANK DEBITS Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System April 23, 1938 Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the •week ended April 20. which included five business days in some of the reporting cities, aggregated 47,627,000,000, or 17 percent above the total reported for the preceding week and 19 percent below the total for the corresponding week of last year. Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main tained since January 1919 amounted to $7,012,000,000, compared with $5,966,000,000 the preceding week and 88,661,000,000 the week ended April 21 of last year.
