BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM G.6 (For Immediate Release) April 15, 1958 BANK DEBITS TO D M N DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS E AD Bank d e b i t s to demand deposit accounts, except interbank and Government accounts, as reported by banks in 344 leading centers f o r the month of March aggregated $204 b i l l i o n . During the past three months d e b i t s amounted to $598 b i l lion or 3,3 per cent above the t o t a l reported f o r the corresponding period a year ago. At banks in New York City there was an increase of 10,7 per cent compared with the corresponding three-months period a year ago; a t 6 other centers there was a decrease of 2.5 per cent; and a t 337 other centers the decrease was .5 per cent. Preliminary estimates of the annual r a t e s of turnover of demand deposits in March are 56.2 a t New York City, 31•3 a t 6 other c e n t e r s , and 21.8 a t 337 other c e n t e r s .
