BANK DEBITS

Board of Governors
of the Federal Reserve System
April 10, 1939

Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the
week ended April 5, nhich included five business days in sone of the reporting cen­
ters, aggregated $8,887,000,000, or 19 percent above the total reported for the pre­
ceding week and about the sane as the total for the corresponding week of last year*
Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to $8,177,000,000, cor.ipo.red with $6,907,000,000
the preceding vteefc and $8,168,000,000 the week ended April 6 of last year.
