FEDERAL RESERVE release IIJ II .f*4LK&T* For immediate release September 4, 1968 COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY Commercial and industrial loans decreased a net of $421 million at weekly reporting large commercial banks during the week ended August 28. The principal net decreases were $86 million in loans to retail trade, $61 million to "other" public utilities, $60 million to manufacturers of machinery, and $54 million to "all other" types of business concerns. The larger offsetting net increases were $24 million in loans to manufacturers of food, liquor, and tobacco products, and $20 million to transportation.
