COMMERCIAL AMD INDUSTRIAL LOAMS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY

Commercial and industrial loans decreased in nine districts and a net of
$91 million at weekly reporting member banks during the week ended September 23.
The larger net decreases were $4? million in loans to manufacturers of
textiles, apparel, and leather products, $19 million in bankers' acceptances,
$17 million each to manufacturers of machinery and manufacturers of other fabricated
metal products, and $20 million to unclassified borrowers.
The larger net increases were $35 million in loans to transportation,
communication, and other public utilities, and $20 million each to commodity
dealers and other wholesale trade.
The outstanding loans and changes during the week and since mid-year are
shown below; fourth column shows the changes during the comparable period last
year.
