INDUSTRY

Commercial and Industrial loans increased a net of $520 million at weekly
reporting large commercial banks during the week ended September 20.
The principal net increases were $111 million in total unclassified loans,
$105 million in loans for retail trade, and $68 million in loans to manufactures of
machinery.
The largest offsetting net decrease was $37 million in loans to manufactures
of chemicals and rubber.
