COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY
Commercial and i n d u s t r i a l l o a n s i n c r e a s e d a n e t of $867 m i l l i o n a t weekly
r e p o r t i n g l a r g e commercial banks d u r i n g t h e week ended September 17, r e f l e c t i n g
quarterly tax date needs.
The p r i n c i p a l n e t i n c r e a s e s were $378 m i l l i o n i n l o a n s t o m a n u f a c t u r e r s
of m a c h i n e r y , $106 m i l l i o n t o m a n u f a c t u r e r s of t r a n s p o r t a t i o n equipment, $76 m i l l i o n
t o m a n u f a c t u c t u r e r s of " o t h e r " n o n d u r a b l e goods, and $71 m i l l i o n t o u n c l a s s i f i e d
borrowers.
The l a r g e s t o f f s e t t i n g n e t d e c r e a s e was $112 m i l l i o n i n l o a n s t o t h e mining
i n d u s t r y , which i n c l u d e s p r o d u c e r s of p e t r o l e u m and n a t u r a l g a s .
