COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY
Commercial and i n d u s t r i a l loans increased a net of $62 m i l l i o n
a t weekly reporting large commercial banks during the week ended September
3, 1975.
The p r i n c i p a l net increases were $123 million in a l l other loans,
$109 million in loans to commodity d e a l e r s , and $70 million in foreign
commercial and i n d u s t r i a l loans.
The l a r g e s t o f f s e t t i n g decrease was $58 million in loans to r e t a i l
t r a d e , a l s o $58 million in construction loans.

AND I N D U S T R I A L TERM LOANS O U T S T A N D I N G BY I N D U S T R Y

Total commercial and i n d u s t r i a l term loans were $47,395 m i l l i o n as
of August 27, 1975. This was an i n c r e a s e of $1,381 m i l l i o n over the comparable
d a t a a year ago and a decrease of $248 m i l l i o n from the l a s t Wednesday in
July.
The p r i n c i p a l n e t changes were $145 m i l l i o n in loans f o r s e r v i c e s ,
$116 m i l l i o n in loans f o r o t h e r p u b l i c u t i l i t i e s and $62 m i l l i o n i n loans
f o r o t h e r nondurable goods.
The t o t a l of a l l b u s i n e s s term loans on August 27 r e p r e s e n t s 48
p e r c e n t of business o u t s t a n d i n g a t l a r g e commercial banks i n the s e r i e s .
