Commercial and I n d u s t r i a l loans increased In nine d i s t r i c t s and a net of
$131 million a t weekly reporting member banks during the week ended September 29 •
The p r i n c i p a l net Increases were $156 million i n loans t o transportation,
canmunication, and other public u t i l i t i e s , $63 million t o r e t a i l t r a d e , and
$27 mil n o n t o manufacturers of food, liquor, and tobacco products.
The l a r g e r o f f s e t t i n g net decreases were $46 million in loans t o manuf a c t u r e r s of t e x t i l e s , apparel, and leather products and $28 million i n "bankers'
acceptances.
Outstanding loans and changes from a week ago and a year ago are shown "below;
cumulative changes since mid-year and during the comparable period l a s t year are shown
in the l a s t two columns.
