INDUSTRY

Commercial and industrial loans decreased a net of $444 million at weekly reporting
large commercial banks during the week ended October 24.
The principal net decreases were $196 million in loans to manufacturers of machinery,
$91 million in loans to manufacturers of textiles, apparel and leather and $58 million in
loans to manufacturers of other'durable goods.
The largest offsetting net increase was $48 million in loans to retail trade.
