H. 12 For immediate release October 30, 1968 COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY Commercial and industrial loans decreased in seven districts and a net of $396 million at weekly reporting large commercial banks during the week ended October 23. The principal net decreases were $91 million in loans to "other" public utilities, $71 million to manufacturers of machinery, $67 million to manufacturers of textiles, apparel, and leather products, and $94 million to unclassified borrowers. The larger offsetting net increases were $41 million in loans to retail trade, and $40 million to manufacturers of food, liquor, and tobacco products.
