COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY
Commercial and industrial loans decreased a net of $371 million at
weekly reporting large commercial banks during the week ended October 22.
The principal net decreases were $80 million in loans to manufacturers
of textiles, apparel, and leather products, $55 million to manufacturers of
"other" fabricated metal products, $54 million to manufacturers of "other"
durable goods, and $62 million to unclassified borrowers.
The larger offsetting net increases were $29 million in loans to retail
trade, and $22 million to manufacturers of transporation equipment.
