For Immediate release May 6, 1964 H.12 COMMERCIAL AMD INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY Commercial and industrial loans increased a net of $42 million at weekly reporting member banks during the week ended April 29. The principal net increase in loans classified by industry was $19 million in loans to transportation, communication, and other public utilities. Unclassified loans increased by $80 million. The larger offsetting net decreases were $43 million in loans to commodity dealers and $17 million to the retail trade. The outstanding loans and changes during the week and since year-end are shown below; fourth column shows the changes during the comparable period last year.
