C O M M E R C I A L A N D INDUSTRIAL L O A N S O U T S T A N D I N G BY INDUSTRY

Commercial and industrial loans increased a net of $552 million at
weekly reporting large commercial banks during the week ended May 16.
The principal net increases we*e $241 million in retail trade,
$138 million in total unclassified loan*, and $98 million in all other loans.
The largest offsetting net decrease was $60 million in loans for
other wholesale trade.
