COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY

Commercial and i n d u s t r i a l loans i n c r e a s e d in eleven d i s t r i c t s and
a n e t of $207 m i l l i o n in weekly r e p o r t i n g l a r g e commercial banks d u r i n g t h e
week ended May 15.
The p r i n c i p a l n e t i n c r e a s e s were $46 m i l l i o n in loans t o r e t a i l t r a d e
and $42 m i l l i o n i n loans t o c o n s t r u c t i o n and $97 m i l l i o n t o u n c l a s s i f i e d borrowers.
The l a r g e s t o f f s e t t i n g n e t d e c r e a s e was $38 m i l l i o n i n loans t o
m a n u f a c t u r e r s of machinery.
