COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY
Commercial and industrial loans increased a net of $153 million at weekly
reporting large commercial banks during the week ended May 14.
The principal net increases were $96 million in loans to manufacturers of
food, liquor, and tobacco products, $59 million to "other" durable goods, and $77
million to unclassified borrowers.
The larger offsetting net decreases were $72 million in loans to commodity
dealers, and $64 million to "other" public utilities.
