BQABD OP GOVERNORS OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM (For Immediate Release) H.12 May 18, i960 CHARGES IN COMMERCIAL AMP mDSBgHAL LOAMS BY UDOSTRY Commercial and industrial loans increased in most districts and a net of $40 million at all reporting member banks during the week ended May 11. The principal net increases were $38 million in loans to the wholesale and retail trade, $23 million to manufacturers of metals and metal products, $22 million to "other" manufacturing and mining, and $28 million to unclassified "borrowers. The larger offsetting net decreases were $42 million in loans to public utilities and $19 million to manufacturers of food, liquor, and tobacco products.
