•pnAPTi Qp GOVERNORS OF TEDS FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM (For Immediate Release) 1.12 May 17, 1961 CHANGES IN COMMERCIAL AMD INDUSTRIAL LOAMS BY HDOB1RY Commercial and industrial loans decreased in seven districts and a net of *95 million at weekly reporting member banks during the week ended May 10, 19_ The principal net decreases were $60 million in loans to manufacturers of food, liquor, and tobacco products, $42 million to commodity dealers, $25 million to manufacturers of metals and metal products, and $22 million to public utilities. The largest offsetting net increase was $25 million in loans to the wholesale and retail trade. Changes in loans during the week and since year-end are shown below; the third column shows the changes during the comparable period last year.
