COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY
Commercial and industrial loans increased a net of $671 million at weekly
reporting large commercial banks during the week ended March 18.
The principal net increases were $221 million in loans to manufacturers of
machinery, and $92 million to unclassified borrowers.

The larger offsetting net decreases were $39 million in loans to manufacturers
of chemicals and rubber products, and $33 million to retail trade.
