COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY

Commercial and I n d u s t r i a l loans increased a net of $459 m i l l i o n at
weekly reporting large commercial banks during the week ended July 2, 1975.
The principal net increases were $200 million in loans for foreign
commercial and i n d u s t r i a l , $133 million in loans for communication and $107
m i l l i o n in loans for petroleum r e f i n i n g .
machinery.

INDUSTRY

T o t a l commercial and i n d u s t r i a l term loans were $47,796 m i l l i o n a s
of June 25, 1975. This was an i n c r e a s e of $3,224 m i l l i o n over t h e comparable
d a t a a year ago and a decrease of $219 m i l l i o n from t h e l a s t Wednesday i n May.
The p r i n c i p a l net changes were $292 m i l l i o n i n l o a n s f o r machinery,
$106 m i l l i o n i n loans tor s e r v i c e s and $102 m i l l i o n i n loans f o r food, l i q u o r
and tobacco.
The t o t a l of a l l b u s i n e s s term loans on June 25 r e p r e s e n t s 48 p e r c e n t
of b u s i n e s s o u t s t a n d i n g a t l a r g e commercial banks i n the s e r i e s .
