COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY

Commercial and industrial loans increased a net of $359 million at weekly reporting
member banks during the week ended February 3*
The principal net Increases were $78 million in loans to retail trade, $50 million
to "all other" types of business concerns, $29 million to manufacturers of machinery, $26 million to manufacturers of textiles, apparel, and leather products, $23 million to commodity
dealers, and $108 million to unclassified borrowers.
Outstanding loans and changes from a week ago and a year ago are shown belowj
cumulative changes since mid-year and during the comparable period last year are shown
in the last two columns.
