COMMERCIAL AMD INDUSTRIAL L0AK3 OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY

Commerical and industrial loans increased in eleven districts and a net of
$656 million at weekly reporting large commerical banks during the week ended December 21.
»
The principal net increases were $18? million in loans to manufacturers of
• machinery, $122 million to transportation, communication, and other public utilities,
end $116 million to manufacturers of food, liquor, and tobacco products.
\
The largest offsetting net decrease was $40 million loans to manufacturers
of textiles, apparel, and leather products.
Outstanding loans and changes from a week ago and a year ago are shown below;
cumulative changes since mid-year and during the comparable period last year are shown
in the last two columns.
