COMMERCIAL AMD INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY

Commercial and industrial loans decreased in nine districts and a net of
$150 million at weekly reporting member banks during the week ended December 8.
•
The principal net decreases were $73 million in loans to retail trade, $22
» million to manufacturers of primary metals, and $74 million to unclassified borrowers.

The largest offsetting net increases were $19 million in loans to "all other"
types of business concerns, and $17 million to manufacturers of "other" durable goods.
Outstanding loans and changes from a week ago and a year ago are shown below;
cumulative changes since mid-year and during the comparable period last year are shown
in the last two columns.
