COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY

Commercial and industrial loans decreased a net of $216 million at weekly
reporting large commercial banks during the week ended November 24.
The principal net decreases were $124 million in loans to manufacturers
of primary metals, and $112 million to manufacturers of machinery.
The largest offsetting net increases were $70 million in loans to
manufacturers of food, liquor, and tobacco products, and $79 million to retail trade,
