For Immediate release August 31# 1966 < > COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOAMS OOTSTANDINQ BY INDUSTRY A H . 12 Commercial and industrial loans decreased a net of $319 million at weekly reporting large commercial banks during the week ended August 24. The principal net decreases were $96 million in loans to retail trade, $60 million to transportation, communication, and other public utilities, $38 million to other wholesale, and $104 million to unclassified borrowers. V The largest offsetting net increase was $50 million in loans to "all other" types of business concerns. Outstanding loans and changes from a week ago and a year ago are shown below; cumulative changes since mid-year and during the comparable period last year are shown in.the last two columns.
