COMMERCIAL AMD INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY

H. 12

Commercial and industrial loans decreased a net of # 7 0 million at weeklyreporting large commercial "banks during the week ended August 23.
The principal net decreases were $63 million in loans to the mining
industry, which includes producers of petroleum and natural gas, $60 million to
manufacturers of machinery, and $52 million to retail trade.
The larger offsetting net increases were $23 million in loans in Bankers'
acceptances, and $21 million to "all other" types of "business concerns.
