COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDIBO BT HQXJagHT

Commercial and I n d u s t r i a l l e a n s Increased, a n e t of $28l Million a t weekly
r e p o r t i n g member banks during t h e week ended August 4.
The p r i n c i p a l n e t Increases were $97 m i l l i o n In loans t o r e t a i l t r a d e ,
*68 m i l l i o n t o a l l "other" types of business concerns, and $33 m i l l i o n t o manufacturers
of t e x t i l e s , a p p a r e l , and l e a t h e r products.
The l a r g e s t o f f s e t t i n g n e t decrease was $42 m i l l i o n I n loans t o t r a n s p o r t a t i o n ,
cosnaunlcatisn, and other public u t i l i t i e s .
Outstanding loans and changes from a week ago and a year ago a r e shown below;
cumulative changes since mid-year and during t h e comparable period l a s t year are shown
i n t h e l a s t two columns.

month of J u l y 1965, compared with an increase of $1,624 million during t h e month of
