COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INHJSTRY

H. 12

Commercial and industrial loans decreased in eight districts and a net of
$164 million at weekly reporting large commercial banks during the week ended March 2 9 .
The principal net decreases were $120 million in loans to retail trade,
$56 million to manufacturers of food, liquor, and tobacco products, and $41 million to
manufacturers of transportation equipment.
The larger offsetting net increases were $21 million in loans to manufacturers
of chemicals and rubber products, and $29 million to unclassified borrowers.
