COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY

Commercial and industrial loans increased a net $107 million in weekly
reporting large commercial banks during the week ended March 27.
The principal net increases were $83 million in loans in bankers'
acceptances, $47 million to services, $44 million to manufacturers of primary
metals, and $69 million to "all other" types of business concerns.
The larger offsetting net decreases were $39 million in loans to
manufacturers of transportation equipment, $32 million to manufacturers of food,
liquor, and tobacco products, and $119 million to unclassified borrowers.
