COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY
C o m m e r c i a l and industrial loans decreased a net of $41 m i l l i o n at
w e e k l y r e p o r t i n g large commercial banks during the w e e k ended A p r i l 7.
The principal net decreases w e r e $107 m i l l i o n in loans to transportation,
and $104 m i l l i o n to u n c l a s s i f i e d borrowers.
The largest offsetting net increase w a s $85 m i l l i o n to services.

COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL TERM LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY

Total business term loans were $32,192 million as of March. This was a
decrease of $9 million over the comparable data a year ago and an increase of $361
million from the last Wednesday in February.
The principal net changes in term loans during March were $227 million in
Loans to manufacturers of the petroleum refining industry, $147 million to the mining
industry including petroleum and natrual gas, and $104 million to transportation.
The total of all business term loans on March 31 represented approximately
1 8 percent of total of business loans outstanding at large commercial banks

reporting in the series.
