COMMERCIAL A D INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY
M

Commercial and i n d u s t r i a l loans decreased a net of $79 million a t weeklyreporting large commercial banks during the week ended April 5.
The p r i n c i p a l net decreases were $68 million in loans to manufacturers of
machinery, $46 million to the mining industry, which includes petroleum and natural
gas, $34 million to manufacturers of transportation equipment, and $2] million to
r e t a i l trade.
The l a r g e r o f f s e t t i n g net increases were $33 million in loans to manufacturers
of chemicals and rubber products, and $34 million to " a l l other" types of business
concerns.
