The s m a l l e r i n c r e a s e in September l i k e l y r e f l e c t e d t h e t h e absence of widespread auto s a l e s i n c e n t i v e programs, which had b o o s t e d growth in t h e p r e v i o u s t h r e e Septembers. Automobile c r e d i t o u t s t a n d i n g was unchanged from August. R e v o l v i n g and "other" c r e d i t advanced more s l o w l y than in August w h i l e mobile home lending contracted s l i g h t l y .
