' Consumer instalment credit held by commercial banks increased
. $506 million'in June. The total outstanding at the end of the month amounted
to $31,013, with auto credit accounting for more than half.
The volume of credit extended during June was up $190 million from
May, with all types of credit contributing to the increase. The rise from a
year ago was $166 million, with home repair,and modernization loans the only
type to show a decrease.
