Instalment accounts outstanding at furniture stores increased further in March, and st the. end of the. month were 1.9 per
cent -above the year-ago level.

Jewelry, store accounts receivable

showed about the'usual seasonal debline, and were nearly one-fifth
higher than a.year earlier.

At household appliance .stores, .accounts

outstanding were, in about the .same'-volume as in other 'recent motfths.
' Collections on instalment accounts during March increased
at-furniturT, household appliance, and jewelry stores.

At furniture

stores the collection ratio increased' four points to reach a new.
high of 28 per cent.

Maroh collections were 53 per cent of instalment

accounts outstanding on.the first of the month, at household appliance
stores, and 33 per cent




at jewelry stores.-'
