DEEARTMEKT STORE CREDIT - MAY IgoO
Instalment account receivables at reporting department
stores declined slightly in May but' were- substantially higher than
a year earlier. Collections oh instalment accounts were 15 per cent
of outstandings at the beginning of the month,.

Charge account receivables also declined moderately in May
but were 6 per cent higher than a year ago. About 44 per cent of the
charge account receivables outstanding at the beginning of May were
collected during the month.

Sales at reporting stores' declined invMay after an unusually large increase in April# and were slightly lower than a
year ago.
