volume, r e f l e c t i n g t h e e f f e c t o f e a r l y C h r i s t m a s b u y i n g . Cash, s a l e s , which c o n t i n u e d to a c c o u n t f o r more t h a n t h r e e - f i f t h s o f t h e t o t a l f o r t h e ' f i f t h c o n s e c u t i v e month, were 30 p e r c e n t above t h o s e f o r t h e c o r r e s p o n d i n g month l a s t y e a r .
